Shopping While on Road Trip in the USA: Part 2
You probably heard of US Nordstrom department stores. They have lots of luxury designer stuff with some very luxurious price tags.
The good news is that Nordstrom also has quite a number of own outlet stores across the US, named Nordstrom Rack.
It’s likely you won’t find the top of the top for bargain prices- Burberry, Jil Sander and alike can be found, but prices still generally are on a higher range.
Said that, you will come across a number of a bit lower range brands for some very attractive prices: think Michael by Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Marc by Marc Jacobs, BCBG Max Azria, A by Alexander Wang, Diane von Furstenberg and alike.
Look for special Clearance racks and you can bring home a fantastic piece from some of the abovementioned brands for 20-30 USD, on average 85% off the original price! Here are some samples.
Bags section is not the top of the class, with brands like Furla and Kate Spade leading. Yes, the prices are lower than regular retail for those, but not the type of deals worth a special mention.
Sunglasses section can be pretty good in terms of brands- you will likely find most of the top designers present- including one of my favourites- Céline which is otherwise quite difficult to find in outlets. Nice sunglasses will cost you above 100 USD- not the cheapest, but worth it for the cool designs they often have there and certainly cheaper than regular retail.
All in all: a good place to try your luck to get some affordable designer pieces all year around! For overseas folks visiting the US- while on road trip in the US- just google the store closest to you. It will likely be in some large shopping center- not something you will likely randomly bump into otherwise.
